Home > Automatic Watches

With technological advancements, automatic watches have become an obvious choice. It seems ridiculous to wind a watch in today's time; thus people prefer buying an automatic watch. The first automatic watch was invented in the year 1770 by Swiss watchmaker Abraham-Louis Perrelet. Today, almost every watch that is manufactured is an automatic watch.

Automatic watches are very easy to handle, as they update the time automatically and there is no need to wind a watch. Earlier, watches have to be winded after every day or two. But this seems cumbersome, as the actual time cannot be set every time and we know that time is money, so even a minute can cost you a fortune; this lead to the invention of automatic watches.

Almost every automatic watch work in the same manner. Every automatic watch requires a movement of a series of gears, to "tick" of increments of time, which in order registers as movements of the hands on the face of the automatic watch. A rotor in these automatic watches sits on a staff in the center of the watch's movement. This rotor moves circularly and winds the mainspring, which is the basis of power in mechanical watches (automatic watches).
